Investment Analyst / Associate (Paid Internship) , South Africa

The purpose of this Internship is to perform the following duties: INVESTMENT ANALYST/ASSOCIATE


This role is to support the Impact Investment division in Solidaridad Southern Africa. In this area, the resource will support several commodities and seek to facilitate and unlock access to finance for smallholder farmers, SME agri-businesses, service providers, processors, etc. This role is split between investment-readiness support activities, business development to design new programmes and propositions to private and donor sectors, and dealmaker execution in terms of the packing investable deals to investors.

1. Drive the development in Investment Cases for funding and matching such deals to investors.
2. Ability to conduct onsite due diligence and package agri deals for investors/donors/corporates.
3. Ability to provide investment-readiness and business support to potential investees including farmers, agri-SMEs, processors and cooperatives.
4. Assist with developing a credit rating/scoring methods for smallholder farmers
5. Assist in developing Business Plans, and integrating business models in programme designs.
6. Support proposals, fundraising, and business development initiatives within the impact investment area.
7. Support corporate/private sector engagement and proposals.
8. Support the impact investment area and initiatives in line with the specific needs per programme, project and for the region, including horticulture, aquaculture, soy, sugarcane, cotton. Our region includes South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, and Malawi

Knowledge and Experience:
 2-5 years of experience and/or exposure to the following areas below:
 Experience in the agriculture and agribusiness sector.
 Knowledge of investment landscape and products as it related to the agriculture sector and
across the value chains. Focus on Agri, SMEs, and small to medium deal sizes.
 Exposure to fund management, investment analyst roles, and agriculture development space.
 Exposure to impact investment, microfinance, blended finance, social impact, and development finance.
 Exposure to start-up environment.
 Mix of office and field experience in the region.

 Able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
 Able to handle ambiguity and problem-solve to reach innovative solutions
 A go-getter with a positive attitude

Duration: 4 months
Salary Range: between 1000 and 1500 USD (gross, paid in local currency)

For our client, who is a food producing company, we are recruiting a Supply Chain and Warehouse Manager in South Africa.

Key Performance areas:

Supply Chain:
• The Supply Chain & Warehouses Manager shall be in charge of the complete procurement of the company and shall be in charge to optimize it for any involved cost. For the part related to ingredients, the Supply Chain & Warehouses Manager shall get the support of the Global Procurement team who leads prices negotiations.
• The Supply Chain & Warehouses Manager shall be in contact with the production and sales teams for forecasting needs and make sure that needs are meets in an optimized way.
• Support the organisational mandate by providing direct and indirect support to the Management in respect of the Supply Chain/ Procurement processes;
• Verify requisitions to ensure compliance with the Supply Chain Management requirements;
• Identify the needs to acquire and dispose assets in line with the established procedures, systems and controls;
• Implement procurement best practices in terms of SCM Policy and maintain records;
• The Supply Chain & Warehouses Manager shall also be in charge of recommending optimized solutions for transport, export, import & warehouses and to review the efficiency of the process at any time.
• Evaluate and report on the performance of all suppliers/service providers;
• Assist in management of the facilities and equipment lease agreements;
• Assist Management in the implementation of facilities Management policies and procedures;

• The Supply Chain & Warehouses Manager shall be in charge of the 5 warehouses and 2 other outsourced warehouses including 3 depos
• The Supply Chain & Warehouses Manager shall take care of receiving (in partnership with quality control), warehousing & transferring in between warehouses and using/updating systems of information & production.
• In particular, the Supply Chain & Warehouses Manager shall be in charge of the stock take & shall reconcile with data storage systems. She/He shall contribute to the ease of availability of ingredients for production
• Fleet Management
• Manage a team of despatchers and receivers.
• Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision
• Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations
• Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization
• Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures
• Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements
• Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
• Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and transport companies
• Plan and assign tasks appropriately and appraise results
• Produce reports and statistics regularly
• Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided

Minimum requirements:
• B-Tech / Degree in Logistics Management or Supply Chain Management or equivalent
• MINIMUM 5 years warehouse management experience in the Retail / FMCG sector.
• Extensive experience in managing bulk cargo and shipping containers.
• Solid experience in logistics document management (e.g. import, export, waybills, financial instruments, etc.)
• Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office
• Drivers license

For our lodge,, we are looking for a Support Team regarding daily management of the lodge. Daily management consists of two main responsibilities: 1. Guests, and 2. Maintenance of the lodge. A minimum period of three months is required Yet preferably longer. We see options in two ways which can be a recurring one or a longer cooperation. Profile of the Support Team: Two people who know each other well and have been through a few stages of life together. Therefore an age indicator is between 30-60 years young. You feel comfortable with yourselves and with each other. You are self-assured and have respect for other ones property. The main characteristics are: trustworthy, extremely positive, independent, technical, communicative, flexible, entrepreneurial attitude throughout, hands-on, easy going, cooperative and thick skinned. Furthermore you find fulfillment in making people happy, sharing good things, cooking for guests and interact with different cultures. And you see it as a challenge to organize all behind the scenes so guests’ experiences are GREAT, not just good. Your mentality is that of never giving up, after a fail you stand up, learn and continue and you have a well-developed sense of pragmatism and you can keep everything in perspective.

You are comfortable in a bush environment, quiet and remote and love dogs. Comfortable living in the bush without permanent power. You are able to keep yourselves busy when no guests are present at the lodge and you are willing to run the extra 25.000 miles at busy times. You get energized by helping Ama Amanzi getting more guests in and keep up the excellent maintenance. And you strive to continue our 5 out of 5 star rating! The ideal team is mature in age, has some management experience, preferably some hospitality experience, know what it is like to live and work in Africa and is very stable both personal and business wise. We assume you are comfortable with MS Office and modern media and have some understanding of business administration. Fluent in English is important and we consider speaking Afrikaans as a "nice to have". An extremely positive attitude is your way of life, throughout all; you understand that we only reflect positive thoughts towards guests. You are flexible and capable of making plans the very last minute. You have a professional attitude 24/7. You as the Support Team is seen as the operational management team of the lodge and has quite a bit of responsibilities. What are your tasks?
• Receive and accommodate guests, make them feel at home
• Manage the team and helping with all tasks (hands on!)
• Some simple administrative tasks
• Make sure facilities and grounds are properly maintained
• Stock control and shopping / ordering for the lodge
• Manages the small lodge restaurant, and ensures quality and service
• Guest relations and ensures high level of customer service
• Planning and control of all internal departments (housekeeping, maintenance, catering)
• Organizing check in and check out and all related administrative tasks.

• WE prefer somebody who has horse riding experience and is also experienced in grooming and general caretaking of horses and we prefer somebody that is a wildlife guide (FGASA level 1) Not saying that somebody with limited horse riding experience or no FGASA can not respond.
