Our client produces, processes and distributes glass for the construction sector.

Role / Job
Background: in line with the Division strategy to expand its geographical footprint, our client is looking for a Country Business Development Manager to take the lead of the market development in Ivory Coast and Senegal.

Goal
1. Build an in depth understanding of the countries glass market and business environment
2. Promote the company's products on the local and regional market (architects, general constructors, distributors, etc.) and establish the brand as a leading glass player.
3. Develop high level contacts with local key stakeholders.
4. Together with the management, envision the company's next steps of development in the area.

Location: Abidjan, Ivory Coast

Scope: Ivory-Coast & Senegal

Mission: The Country Business Development Manager will be in charge of
• In depth glass market understanding including trends, economic indicators, direct and indirect customers, supply chain, logistics, product range, market prices,
• Business strategy propositions including value proposition, business model and logistic,
• Promotion of the company's products & support to architects, general constructors, distributors, processors, etc.,
• Cooperation with the company's agent and commercial office in Europe whenever necessary,
• Development of a broad and relevant network of local contacts, including key decision makers,
• Organization of exploration missions for the company's members in his area of responsibility,
• Functional report to the Strategy Office in Belgium, with regular reporting, exchange & alignment.

Requirements
The candidate must have a solid entrepreneurial profile with strong commercial skills in BtoB environments, and ideally have a relevant experience in the construction industry and a proven experience in developing business in French-speaking West-Africa. He is able to manage his daily work in a very autonomous and proactive way, while easily detecting situations where approval by management is required. He ensures the Compliances Rules and maintains a high quality service and brand image at all levels of his activity. Creative, ambitious, comfortable with uncertainty, he is a highly trustable and reliable person. Skilled at building partnerships, and politically savvy, he is able to initiate long term business relationships.

Profile
• Master Degree in Engineering/Business/other to be evaluated.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience (ideally in a similar job).
• Relevant background in BtoB environment (ideally construction industry, ideally sales or marketing).
• Proven experience in developing business in French-speaking west-Africa.
• Sales & marketing oriented, strong commercial skills and ability to compile business proposals.
• Result-driven with excellent communication & networking skills.
• Trustworthy and reliable, good work ethic.
• Fast learner/dynamic/agile/self-started and ambitious.
• Fluent in French and in English, any other language is a plus.
• Valid driver license.
• Willingness to travel all over his area of responsibility.

As a business advisor, you are a coach and advisor of our clients (farmer cooperatives and organisations). You are a real dealmaker, tirelessly creating opportunities how to better serve our clients and how-to better position the organization as the number one cooperative specialist in the country. You are an advisor, networker and broker having the lead in acquisition and marketing of our services. You provide expert advice, monitor advisory trajectories with clients and you have an advisory and brokerage role in the closing of deals with, among others, donors, multilateral agencies, trust funds and the private sector. In order to achieve this, networking is your second nature, leveraging the potential of our network comprising of cooperatives and farmers’ organisations, government institutions and all other stakeholders relevant for cooperative development.

Duties
• Provide business development advice to and facilitate change management within cooperatives that will allow for the realisation of business growth potential.
• Acquisition and marketing of the organization's services and products related to cooperative business development.
• Materialise opportunities to finance business plans of cooperatives, support the establishment of contacts and negotiate business agreements with banks, investors and other financiers (governments and the business sector).
• Provide both clients and the team of business advisors with coaching and guidance relating to change trajectories and stakeholder management, to promote the interests of farmers, associations and cooperatives, particularly to the authorities of Ivory Coast.
• Overall program and operational management, reporting and budgeting.
• Position the organization in Ivory Coast and West Africa as the number one service provider in cooperative business development.

Your profile
• A bachelor’s degree in business economics, finance or a similar field.
• Background in impact investment, finance and/or banking is an asset.
• Extensive experience in and knowledge of one or more fields in which the organization achieves results, such as cooperative business development, market chain development, agricultural service provision, entrepreneurship, governance, and financial management.
• Relevant practical knowledge of and experience in the agri & food and/or cooperative sector
• Proven experience in programme management with solid reporting and writing skills.
• High level of proficiency in French and English.
• Enthusiastic, focused on results and service and skilled in coaching and change management.
• Familiar with self-steering and team dynamics

The Job
Our client is looking for a regional project manager in West Africa to manage projects, mainly in Ivory Coast. Together with the companies' local sustainability team in Côte d'Ivoire and program partners they need you to increase impact in their supply chains, set-up and supervise programs, and build a strong Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) structure. You will be the connector of their middlemen, exporters, farmer communities, NGO’s, public and private parties, and research institutes. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Follow-up on program design and execution in Côte d'Ivoire, but with regular travels to Ghana, Nigeria, and Cameroon.
- Up-scale and execute program activities that were initiated together with supply chain partners.
- Support fundraising for (new) programs.
- Maintain relationships with our clients, exporters and farmer groups.
- Identify co-investors and new local partners for program up-scaling.
- Support the companies' M&E structure, existing of open source software (QGIS, R).

The team
You will be working in our clients' dynamic sustainability team in Côte d'Ivoire. You will strengthen relationships with partners and local suppliers in the mentioned countries in close collaboration with the sustainability field teams in our headquarters in Europe and the other origins.
