Consultant for South Sudan , Kenya

On behalf of Misereor, the Association for Development Cooperation (AGEH) is looking for a Consultant (m/f) for organisational development specialising in planning, monitoring and evaluation (PME) for its partner organisations in South Sudan.

The place of residence and work is Nairobi, Kenya.

Your new role
As a development worker for organisational development, you will advise several of Misereor’s partner organisations in South Sudan in the areas of organisational development and administration. In close consultation with Misereor and the partner organisations, you will develop a cross-organisational annual plan, support the organisations in creating common standards for similar work units and processes, and assist in the implementation of this development.

• You will engage in a dialogue with the partner organisations and support these in particular in the area of organisational development and PME by visiting partners, providing consultations, arranging for consultations and proposing exchange visits and seminars.
• You will contribute to the promotion of an exchange between the partner organisations and with other relevant players.
• You will offer professional advice to project partners on all matters relating to the collaboration with Misereor/KZE (German Catholic Central Agency for Development Aid). You will take part in publications and lobbying work regarding development policy for South Sudan, and will accompany visitors when they travel to the partner organisations.

Your profile:
• You have completed a university degree, preferably in the social sciences or humanities.
• You have already gained experience in development cooperation, ideally in Africa.
• You have at least two years of professional experience in organisational development specialising in planning, monitoring and evaluation (PME)
• Ideally you already have knowledge and experience in the areas of peace-building and reconciliation work.
• You are diplomatic and have exceptional intercultural communication skills, to enable you to deal with the relevant players in a manner based on mutual partnership, and you can act appropriately in a church context.
• You are prepared to travel extensively under generally difficult conditions.
• You have a business-fluent command of written and spoken English, and your German skills are at least good.
• You are an EU or Swiss citizen and a member of a Christian church.

Organisational Developer in Burundi , Burundi

The Association for Development Cooperation (AGEH e.V.) is the personnel service of the German Catholics for Development Cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS) we offer development workers a meaningful role working with local development agents. The CPS is the programme for peace-building and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It sets out to promote a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Development workers with the CPS support local partner organisations in all phases of conflicts: conflict prevention, violence mitigation and post-conflict rehabilitation. Working with churchrelated and civil-social partners in the African Great Lakes region, AGEH aims to play a part in civil conflict management through the CPS’ peace-building measures.

Your new role
The CEJP (Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace) is a commission of the Conference of Bishops of Burundi. Its aim is to promote justice and peace within Christian social teaching, and it contributes to a consolidation of peace nationwide. The work of the CEJP focuses on supporting and strengthening the capacities of the Burundi dioceses and the diocesan Justice and Peace structures in the fields of peace, democratization, conflict transformation and reconciliation. The place of residence and work Bujumbura offers good living conditions and the location close to Lake Tanganyika offers attractive leisure activities.

The CEJP has developed a broad portfolio of activities with which it dedicates itself to the cause of respecting human rights and reconciliation. By introducing a professionalised project management system, it aims to advance in the fields of planning, monitoring and evaluation, in order to simplify the acquisition of funds for peace-building work.

Specifically, this includes the following tasks:
• You will provide support in the optimisation of administrative processes and advise the CEJP team on professionalising its programme and project management systems.
• Together, you will develop conceptual fundraising strategies and instruments, and provide support to employees in continued training on relevant fundraising activities.
• You will support the team in developing new project applications.
• Working with the team, you will play a part in the continuation of lobbying and advocacy activities.

Your profile:
• You have completed a university degree relevant to the field of development cooperation (political sciences, social sciences, social education, social work) and have acquired
at least two years of professional experience, ideally outside of Europe.
• You have sound knowledge of organisational development as well as programme and project management.
• You have already successfully carried out training measures and consulting tasks.
• You are diplomatic and have strong intercultural communication skills, to enable you todeal with the relevant players in a manner based on mutual partnership, and you can
act appropriately in a church context.
• You are a member of a Christian church and enjoy working within church structures.
• You speak very good French and at least good English. You are an EU or Swiss citizen.

La République du Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) est le quatrième pays producteur de pétrole en Afrique subsaharienne. Bien que le pays soit riche en ressources naturelles, notamment en pétrole, plus de la moitié de la population vit sous le seuil de pauvreté. Dès 2002, les évêques de la République du Congo ont adressé une déclaration au gouvernement, exigeant que la richesse du pays profite à la population. En a résulté la coalition «Publiez Ce Que Vous Payez » (PCQVP), à laquelle appartient aussi la Commission Justice et Paix de Pointe Noire. Depuis quelques années, PCQVP évalue les investissements de l’État dans le domaine de la santé et de l’éducation, présente publiquement les résultats et permet ainsi à la population de jouer un rôle participatif.

Votre mission
Vous contribuez à diffuser à un large public les résultats élaborés par Justice et Paix Pointe Noire et PCQVP Congo.

Dans le détail, il s’agit des travaux suivants:
• Vous élaborez un concept de communication pour la Commission Justice et Paix Pointe Noire.
• Vous concevez des supports d’information pour diffuser les connaissances ainsi que pour sensibiliser et mobiliser le grand public.
• Avec votre équipe, vous développez des compétences pour utiliser les réseaux sociaux, élaborez des stratégies sur Internet et sur les réseaux sociaux et les mettez en oeuvre.
• Vous gérez et actualisez les pages Internet de Justice et Paix Pointe Noire et de PCQVP Congo.

Pointe Noire est un lieu de travail et de résidence convenant aux familles avec enfants; elle dispose d’écoles et d’établissements médicaux.

Votre profil:
• Vous êtes titulaire d’un diplôme d'études supérieures pertinent en matière de coopération pour le développement et possédez au moins 2 ans d’expérience professionnelle, dans l’idéal en Afrique.
• Vos vastes connaissances dans le domaine des réseaux sociaux et de la rédaction en ligne vous permet de gérer les réseaux sociaux avec assurance.
• Vous avec beaucoup travaillé sur les questions relatives aux matières premières, à la lutte contre la corruption et contre la pauvreté. Dans l’idéal, vous avez l’expérience des campagnes «Publiez Ce Que Vous Payez».
• Vous avez d’importantes compétences analytiques et conceptuelles, une approche innovante et une bonne compréhension de la technologie.
• Vous avez déjà une expérience administrative dans le domaine du budget public et de la formulation de requêtes. Dans l’idéal, vous avez l’expérience du travail de lobbying.
• Vous vous identifiez au profil ecclésiastique de Misereor et supportez avec conviction les objectifs et les aspirations de la coopération ecclésiastique pour le développement.
• Vous vous exprimez très bien en français, à l’écrit comme à l’oral, et avez de très bonnes connaissances de l’allemand et/ou de l’anglais.
• Vous êtes citoyen/ne de l’UE ou de Suisse et appartenez à une Église chrétienne.

Project Coordinator Humanitarian Aid, Lebanon

On behalf of Caritas Germany, AGEH e.V. is seeking to fill this position for the local service centre in Beirut starting at the earliest possible date.

Caritas Germany is the welfare association of the Catholic Church in Germany. Approximately 650 aid projects each year support those who are particularly vulnerable. Caritas Germany provides support irrespective of the religious affiliation, ethnic background or nationality of those affected.

Caritas Lebanon has many years of experience organizing projects to help Syrian and Palestinian refugees as well as vulnerable Lebanese people together with numerous other specialized institutions.

Your tasks
 You will advise and support the local partners in Lebanon in the identification of needs, planning, management and implementation of projects and programmes for emergency aid and rebuilding measures as well as the implementation of project agreements according to Caritas Germany guidelines. Support for partners in Syria will be provided depending on the security situation.
 You will be responsible for preparing project applications, reports and project implementation according to Caritas Germany standards and for reporting to headquarters on the progress of the project in a factual and timely manner.
 You will support the ongoing aid programmes and projects by monitoring content and management, complete funding applications for public financial supporters (e.g. national government, EU), and coordinate and support the activities of temporary consultants.
 You will plan and implement training measures on project planning and topical issues for local partners.
 When specifically agreed on, you will take part in relevant coordination meetings on location (German Embassy, OCHA, ECHO, UNHCR), represent Caritas Germany at meetings and support public relations work.

Your profile
 You have completed an academic degree in social or Islamic studies (Arabic / Middle Eastern studies / political science) and have at least 2 years of experience in the field of humanitarian aid or development cooperation, ideally acquired in the region.
 You use your communication and counselling skills in a culturally sensitive way and have already gained experience training local partner organizations.
 You are motivated and can quickly adapt to changing conditions and know how to communicate appropriately at various different levels.
 You are physically and mentally fit to travel within Lebanon and, depending on the security situation, in Syria as well.
 You identify with Caritas' objectives and agenda.
 Your written and spoken English and German is excellent. Knowledge of Arabic or French would be beneficial.
 You are a member of a Christian church and you are an EU or Swiss citizen.
 You are available on short-term notice.
