Alex Rivera is a seasoned strategic project manager with more than 12 years of experience overseeing international economic growth and agricultural development projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and South-East Asia. In May 2016, Alex became part of a three-person executive management team tasked with establishing a greenfield pineapple operation for Dole Worldwide Packaged Foods. This new position has allowed him to merge his development economics acumen with his strategic management knowledge of operating projects within the Sub-Saharan African region. Before this role, Mr. Rivera successfully managed an ambitious grant disbursement in South Sudan on a one year $12 million USAID agricultural markets value-chain linkage project. Previous to arriving in Juba, Alex oversaw the financial and operational management of a $28.3million USAID agribusiness and trade competitiveness project in Mozambique. Mr. Rivera also worked extensively on the management of multi-year, multi-million dollar, agribusiness projects in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, the Philippines, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Mr. Rivera began his career with a focus on the implementation of Educational Management Information Systems (EMIS) projects in South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, and Guatemala. With a strong background in economics and international business, he applies both academic and professional experiences to deliver creative strategic solutions and target based contract management approaches. In addition to management roles, Mr. Rivera has actively engaged in the coordination, costing, budgeting, and capture of several business development proposals, for many different potential donors.
