By way of introduction, the name is Kwesi Arhin, a Dutch national currently working at KPMG Netherlands within the Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services (CMAAS) department. I have been working here for over two years now with the clear intention of further improving my consulting skills through handling complex accounting and finance issues under IFRS, US GAAP and Dutch GAAP; this is in addition to initiatives of digitizing the finance function as well as M&A and Capital Markets support.
Previous to this, I worked as the Country Finance Lead (with additional oversight over IT, Legal and Administration) for a Belgian multinational shipping and value-added logistic company in Ghana by name of Katoen Natie.
After having achieved my career goal here at KPMG Netherlands, I have been highly considering getting back into the industry in a similar Senior Financial role. That is, only if the right role and organization that embraces innovation and continuous improvement avails itself.

Recruited to advise and handle complex finance and accounting issues that affects the biggest corporates in the world. This is in addition to Mergers and Acquisitions, and Capital Markets support, as well as being a Digitization and Innovation Leader for the department.
Recruited for a newly created role in order to create robust financial processes and reporting with scalability for the organization. As a strategic country finance leader, I had additional oversight over the HR, IT and Legal functions. This is in addition to being primarily responsible for the organizational change management process that was initiated worldwide in 2014, so as to move from the previous Unicontrol Commodity way of work, to the Katoen Natie principles and values within the Ghana office.
Selected to serve as a Management Trainee in the area of finance, administration and accounting. Identified several issues and led core initiatives to improve financial performance of the organization. Also served as a backup and support role within diverse functions due to my multi-faceted skillset and mostly my ability to understand finance from an operational perspective so as to model profit growth and maximization in pragmatic ways.
• Mainly focused on stakeholder and client relationship management from a financial and business control perspective involving parties such as Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Cocoa Marketing Company, Ghana Free Zones Board, Touton S.A., ADM Cocoa, Central Beheer Achmea, Bollore and others.
• Walkthrough all organizational activities (finance, operational, legal, IT and HR) as a precursor to my forthcoming role within the company.
Formerly called Professionals Ghana Ltd where I served the family-owned business in capacity as staff accountant (two years full-time; 3 years part-time). My close cooperation with statutory regulators was highly appreciated and proved to be very pivotal in my success within future roles in Ghana. Clients served included Katoen Natie, Carmeuse Lime Products Ghana, Antrak/Bollore, Ghana Manganese Company, SONITRA and Ghana Bauxite Company.
