(BMGF), agribusiness specialists (The Context Network) and aid agencies (USAID, DFID) on agricultural
value chain, business development and program management in East and West Africa as well as Asia.
• Producing in-depth value chain studies of various agricultural commodities based on desk and field
research, including refining market information, validating local market statistics as well as the value
chain actors and structure.
• Recommending major impact opportunities for grant-making strategies and identifying potential
partners to start the grant development process.
• Leading and supporting the development of new business and programs in the region including
identifying fundraising opportunities, and responding to major contract/grant opportunities by
developing competitive proposals (e.g. for World Bank, DFID, USDA, USAID etc.)
• Working with leading corporations and agencies to develop and implement programs to
overcome/improve supply chain issues and benefit smallholder farmers and/or SMEs (e.g. developing
and rolling out a seed marketing network across 2 counties in West Kenya)
• Researching and developing sustainability strategies for enterprise development in Ghana
With the aid of well-researched tools and tailored solutions, facilitating Benelux organisations’
understanding of and interaction with the Chinese traveller in order to fully benefit from the rapid growth of
the world’s fastest growing and largest single source market for international travel income. Served as
Benelux partner of COTRI (China Outbound Tourism Research Institute), leading, independent research
institute for training, quality assessment, and consulting within the China outbound tourism marke
Performed in-depth analysis of non-EU (Sunbelt) PV markets (trends, growth prospects, policy and regulatory framework, legal constraints, etc.). Identified, established partnerships, built awareness and know-how with key stakeholders including government and energy sector decision-makers in focus markets (China, India, Brazil, Mexico). Organized and participated in high-profile events and seminars to disseminate latest industry developments and EPIA publications. Created market development roadmaps for Members seeking entry into selected Sunbelt markets.
Established a Representative Office for KBCAM in Shanghai followed by a joint venture (JV) fund management company in Shanghai, its first in Asia. Jointly led entire process from market research, negotiations with potential JV partners, due diligence, collaboration with legal firms to draft incorporation documents, liaison with Chinese regulators on securing necessary approvals, staff recruitment, securing of fund distribution agreements, to the JV’s maiden fund launch. In subsequent years, identified and developed additional new business development opportunities for KBCAM in China, as well as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan, driven in particular by strong demand for KBCAM’s innovative ECO funds.
Built Asia strategy from scratch, including fact-finding missions to Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan in a first phase. Identified and established contacts with key stakeholders in each market (distributors, regulators, investment bodies). Developed and executed market entry strategy. Relocated to Shanghai in August 2004.
Effectively monitored, analyzed, and created financial models for 10-15 listed China/Hong Kong-related companies across a wide variety of sectors (FMCG, pharmaceutical, chemical) to advise JF's global institutional clients. Ensured accurate forecasting and current information was acquired to publish regular company reports. Developed weekly China strategy updates for internal and external purposes. Participated in primary market deals in collaboration with JF's Asia corporate finance department.
