Leads implementation of all livelihoods & enterprise development initiatives (e.g. Tourism, Energy, Agriculture, Honey, Social Services) through several private sector partners targeting 750,000 ha and 10,000 household beneficiaries. These projects support conservation of about 750,000 ha of buffer zones in Luangwa-Zambezi region.
Additional responsibilities include Implements commercialization strategies for Forest Carbon Offsets, and engaging with new investors and funders for capital raising. Operationally it includes supervision of three teams (40+ staff) and relevant operations.
Managing operations of WCS’s principal global crosscutting programs, such as livelihoods, climate change, business & conservation, and ecosystem services. Included were reviews of WCS’s engagements with corporations and business in its field projects.
Implemented several projects for the agribusiness (It’s WILD! brand). Conducted strategic and financial business planning as well as its execution, facilities’ expansion, production and logistics processes.
Managed nationwide program focused on transboundary conservation, protected area management, land use planning, SME development, institutional capacity building, education, health, and conservation finance. The program was implemented with seven other partners, and included support of SME initiatives related to natural resource use.
Additionally, I supervised development of business plans for all Uganda’s national parks/wildlife reserves and coordinated the process to establish a nationwide Conservation Trust Fund to fund protected areas in Uganda.
Built from scratch and developed a SME development project in Liuwa Plain National Park. PROFIT = Production, Finance and Improved Technology, which focused on the park’s initial tourism infrastructure, agriculture, governance and revenue share model. The work included daily field work with local communities and supervision of staff in challenging remote conditions. I also provided management support to run the national park under a public-private partnership (PPP) concession.
Provided comprehensive corporate finance and strategic advice to companies and entrepreneurs on debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and business valuation. This included preparation of business plans, investment memoranda, financial analyses; conducting due diligence; and closing transactions with investors.
Conducted fundamental and financial analysis and provided investment recommendations for a $250 million mutual fund portfolio. Also served on the Boards of Directors for three portfolio companies.
