Social Scientist for Conflict Transformation and Reconciliation (m/f/x), Bujumbura, Burundi

AGIAMONDO is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS), we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The CPS is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It works for a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in Burundi, AGIAMONDO wants to contribute to the civil conflict resolution there and to the sustainable and just development of the country as well as the Great Lakes region through peacebuilding measures.

Specifically, you will carry out the following tasks:

-As part of the team, you will accompany reconciliation processes in the context of a violent past, train and support CDJP staff*, pastors and community committees in the areas of reconciliation work, conflict management and non-violent communication.
-In addition, you will share your knowledge of facilitation and training techniques with the CDJP team.
-You will assist in the coordination of the CDJP network (community committees and other groups) and strengthen the organizational structures.
-To develop and implement specific policies and strategies, you will provide your expertise and assist in the development and management of projects.
-You will be responsible for the proper expenditure and management of funds in the field according to donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO's requirements. In doing so, you will work in partnership with CDJP Bujumbura.

Requirements:
-You have a degree in peace studies or social sciences, education or comparable.
-You have relevant knowledge and professional experience in memory work, in dealing with a violent past and in conflict transformation.
-Furthermore, you have knowledge in organizational development, project management or APME (analysis, planning, monitoring, evaluation).
-Communication and consulting skills are among your strengths and you have diplomatic skills and intercultural communication skills for a culturally sensitive interaction with stakeholders.
-You are fluent in written and spoken French; knowledge of English is desirable.
-You identify yourself as a member of a Christian church, with the goals and concerns of church development and peace work, support these convincingly and are willing to participate in church life.
-You have a class B driver's license and are an EU or Swiss citizen.
